It's graduation season!

Spring is in the air, that means graduation season is upon us once again! Spring is truly the season of change and perhaps the biggest of those changes come to those graduating from high school and college. For the first time in their lives, they may not know the next step or where they will end up. Closing a chapter in life and turning to a blank page, a fresh start, is an opportunity that only comes around a handful of times. So to all 2024 graduates I say: JUMP! Jump into your next journey with both feet and embrace the endless possibilities that lay before you!

Lydia

Lydia is originally from Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, an adorable town known for its historical charm and "Pickle Drop" held each year on New Years Eve! It's no wonder that when Lydia decided to further her education she chose University of Pittsburgh's Johnstown campus, as Johnstown offers much of the same small town charm!

Jessica Park, in her book Flat-Out Love wrote “The friends you make in college are friends you'll have for life, even if you don't talk for years at a time.” - this certainly rings true for Lydia. When asked for her favorite thing during her time at UPJ, she immediately responded with "The friendships". Starting the year with only her high school bestie, she now walks across the graduation stage with the support of her sorority sisters, faith family and the entire "Wild Cat" community!

What did you study while at UPJ?

"I majored in Psychology with minors in Justice, Administration and Criminology."

Something you loved to do outside of campus?

"Going to Watami for sushi with my friends!"

What groups did you belong to on campus?

"I was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma, Catholic Campus Ministry and the UPJ Concert Choir."

Awards and elected positions:

-Deans List

-Psi Chi Honor Society

-Development & Risk Manager - Phi Sigma Sigma

-Vice President, Catholic Campus Ministry

What comes next?

Lydia will be returning to the Greater Johnstown area after graduation to accept a position with Pressley Ridge as a Behavioral Health Specialist! During her time at UPJ, Lydia also made the courageous decision to join the Catholic Faith. She is now a full member of the Roman Catholic Church and I am sure you will find her attending mass and gracing one of the local parishes with her beautiful voice!

CONGRATULATIONS LYDIA!

I look forward to seeing all of the wonderful things that you will accomplish as you begin both your professional and faith journeys! Thank you for bearing the Johnstown wind with me to capture some of your final photographs as a student of University Pittsburgh Johnstown!

A Special Note:
"Lydia Said 'Yes' to a new relationship with Christ by Joining the catholic Faith and continued to say 'yes' in sharing that faith with others, through upj catholic campus ministry. what a blessing she has been!"
